The horizontal axis shows capacity. The vertical axis shows total head. The shaded envelopes below connect specific pump sizes with speed and operating range. Final selection still requires the duty point, fluid conditions, NPSH and construction review.

How to Read an ANSI Pump Performance Curve

1. Flow / Capacity – Q

Start with the required flow rate in GPM or m3/h.

2. Total Head – H

Match the required total dynamic head in ft or m at the target flow.

3. Impeller Diameter

Verify the impeller diameter or trim associated with the required operating point.

4. Efficiency + Power

Review the efficiency region and driver power requirement instead of selecting on head and flow alone.

5. NPSHr

Confirm available suction margin against the NPSH required by the selected pump and speed.

Coverage map bands: 3,500 / 2,850 RPM and 1,750 / 1,450 RPM. Individual catalog curves may use actual rated speed for the selected size.

Coverage speed vs. individual curve speed The overview map groups hydraulic families around nominal 50 Hz / 60 Hz speed bands. Individual catalog curves may be published at the actual rated pump speed for that size and motor configuration, so values such as 2900, 2965, 3560, 3570, 1470, 1780 RPM and other nearby speeds can appear in source curves.

Can you match a 3196 or MKIII replacement?

Yes, the review should compare the exact pump size, frame, interfaces, duty point, material and seal arrangement before quotation.

What if the original curve is missing?

Send the pump nameplate, model, size, operating duty and fluid conditions. The available information determines the next review step.

Do materials change the selection?

Wet-end materials can be reviewed in WCB, 316SS / CF8M, CD4M / CD4MCu, Alloy 20 / CN7M, Hastelloy, Nickel, Titanium and other approved alloy options, depending on configuration and service conditions.

Can I buy a bare pump or parts?

Use the RFQ to specify whether you need a complete replacement pump, wet-end parts, power-end parts or a component cross-reference.

Replacement Materials Available

Final material selection must consider fluid composition, concentration, temperature, solids, velocity and actual corrosion history. Not every material is available for every pump size without engineering confirmation.
