- Do not assume shafts, covers or impellers cross
Bearings, seals and hardware may share industrial standards, but cross only by exact designation, specification and dimensions.
STX/STi, MTX/MTi, LTX/LTi and XLTX/XLTi are Goulds identifiers; Group I/II/III and 1K/2K/3K are Durco identifiers.
These nomenclature systems help identify platforms; they are not guaranteed component-interchange mappings.

What dimensions and interfaces come first
Compare nozzles, centerline, feet, coupling and driver arrangement.
Review casing, impeller, cover/seal chamber and shaft interfaces together.
Confirm shaft, impeller attachment, bearings and adjustment architecture.
Cross mechanical seals by exact specification and chamber geometry.
Match alloy and process-service requirements independently of platform name.
Use the installed drawing/revision and measurements when part history is uncertain.

Cross-platform compatibility questions
Can I use a Durco impeller in a Goulds 3196?
Do not assume it. The platforms use different internal architecture and interfaces.
Does ASME B73.1 mean internal parts interchange?
No. The standard supports external installation envelope compatibility, not universal internal-part interchange.
Are Goulds and Durco shafts interchangeable?
Verify every platform-specific interface, dimension and material before considering a cross.
Does the same item number mean the same part?
No. Item 108 is an adapter function on both lists, but the parts are not proven equivalent by the number.
Can a complete Mark III-style pump replace a 3196 installation?
A complete-pump replacement can be reviewed against the GA, duty, driver, baseplate and process requirements.
Can bearings or seals cross between platforms?
Sometimes bought-out components share specifications, but cross by exact designation and dimensions.
