Product Details
The 3180 paper stock and process pump family is associated with high-flow pulp, black-liquor, slurry and difficult industrial process service. Our independent replacement program supports complete pumps and selected components after checking the installed configuration, hydraulic duty, materials and sealing requirements.
Paper Stock and Difficult Process Duty
Paper-stock pumps must often manage fibrous material, solids, variable consistency and demanding maintenance conditions. The correct selection begins with the real duty, not with a model number alone. Let us know the flow, head, stock consistency, solids, fluid chemistry, temperature, speed and available installation dimensions so the replacement can be reviewed properly.
Reference Operating Envelope
| Reference item | Installed-family reference |
|---|---|
| Flow | Up to 45,000 GPM (10,220 m³/h) |
| Head | Up to 410 ft (125 m) |
| Pressure | Up to 232 PSIG (16 bar) |
| Temperature | Up to 446°F (230°C) |
These are reference figures for the installed family, not blanket performance claims for every replacement. Pump size, speed, impeller, construction, pressure class, seal arrangement and materials must be verified before order.
3180 and 3185: Verify Before Assuming Compatibility
Installed 3180 and 3185 pumps can use different flange-drilling and dimensional conventions. Some shafts and mechanical-seal sleeves may not be interchangeable. We do not quote a complete replacement or individual component on family name alone. A nameplate, general arrangement, dimensional drawing, OEM part number or sample is the best basis for verification.
Hydraulic and Mechanical Options to Review
- Impeller style: open, enclosed or solids-oriented selection depends on the liquid and service conditions.
- Renewable clearances: sideplate and wear-part configuration should be confirmed from the installed pump.
- Seal arrangement: identify the existing mechanical seal, stuffing box or dynamic-seal arrangement and the process restrictions around it.
- Back pull-out maintenance: confirm the site maintenance method, coupling arrangement and baseplate dimensions.
- Material selection: state whether the service is abrasive, corrosive, high temperature or chemically variable.
Complete Pumps and Replacement Parts
We can review casings, sideplates, impellers, seal chambers, stuffing-box covers, backplates, shafts, sleeves, repellers, bearing components, gaskets and other identified parts. Material availability depends on the component, pump size and casting or fabrication requirement. Wet-end construction may be reviewed in CF8M/316SS, CD4M, CN7M/Alloy 20, Hastelloy, Titanium or other suitable materials where verified.
Typical Applications
- Paper stock, recycled fibre and stock-transfer service
- Black liquor and selected chemical-recovery process duty
- Slurry, wastewater and contaminated-liquid handling
- Difficult solids-containing industrial process applications
- Process circulation requiring high flow and serviceable construction
RFQ Checklist
For a complete pump, send model, size, flow, head, speed, fluid, temperature, solids or consistency, material, seal requirement and quantity. For a parts inquiry, add the OEM part number, part description, drawing, dimensions or a clear photo. A nameplate and general arrangement drawing reduce the risk of an incorrect replacement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 3180 automatically an ASME B73.1 pump?
No. ANSI flange drilling alone does not establish ASME B73.1 classification. The installed design must be reviewed on its own basis.
Can a 3180 replace every 3185 pump?
No. Flange drilling, dimensions and selected components can differ. Verify the exact pump before replacement.
Can you quote a 3180 casing or sideplate only?
Yes. Send the part number, model, material and any drawing or sample dimensions for review.
What information helps with black-liquor or slurry service?
Provide chemistry, temperature, solids, specific gravity, flow, head, speed and the existing materials and seal arrangement.
What Buyers Commonly Search For
Common purchase-led searches include Goulds 3180 replacement pump, 3180 pump parts, 3180 impeller, 3180 casing, 3180 sideplate and 3180 vs 3185 replacement parts. The key commercial question is usually whether the quoted pump or part matches the installed dimensions, hydraulic duty and material.
Choose the Fastest Next Step
- Complete-pump replacement: send model, size, flow, head, speed and a nameplate or GA drawing.
- Part-only request: send the part number, material, quantity and drawing or sample dimensions.
- 3175 or 3180 comparison: see the 3175 paper stock process pump and ask us to review the installed duty.
