What CD4MCuN selection needs to address
CD4MCuN is a duplex stainless casting alloy commonly considered where higher strength and chloride resistance are needed than standard austenitic stainless steel can provide. What a CD4MCuN Wet-End Kit Includes
A wet-end scope generally covers the casing, impeller, cover or seal chamber as applicable, and the related wetted interfaces. List every supplied component, such as back plate, wear rings, gaskets, shaft sleeve and fasteners where relevant. Identify which power end and seal components will be retained. A kit must match the intended frame, shaft arrangement, impeller setting and seal chamber configuration.

- Exact pump model, size, frame and power-end group.
- Casing and cover bolt pattern, gasket faces and nozzle orientation.
- Impeller hub, key, thread, balance and clearance-setting arrangement.

ASME B73.1 helps standardize many external dimensions, but it does not automatically prove compatibility for every internal part, material or hydraulic curve. Treat dimensional, mechanical, hydraulic and material checks as separate approvals.
Material verification and inspection plan
Agree the documentation before production. For critical applications, the request can include heat-number traceability, material test reports, PMI on specified components, dimensional inspection points, hydrostatic-test evidence and impeller-balance records. Clarify whether the material callout is a specific casting grade and which acceptance standard applies.
When CD4MCuN may not be the best answer
Do not use this article as a corrosion-selection chart. Highly oxidizing acids, elevated temperatures, unusual contaminants or mixed chemical services may require another material or a detailed corrosion review. If the existing unit has failed, include photos, fluid conditions and failure history so the review focuses on the cause.

Receiving inspection for a wet-end kit
At receipt, check the packing list, part numbers, casting identification, visible condition and the agreed documentation before the old pump is dismantled. Confirm that each supplied component matches the approved drawing and that certificates can be linked to the critical wetted castings. Where required, perform or witness PMI at the agreed locations.
During assembly, use the manufacturer-approved clearance and torque procedures, confirm gasket and seal compatibility, and preserve the inspection record. A controlled receiving and assembly process is the best way to turn a material and fitment specification into a reliable repair.
