Product Details

A CV3196 recessed impeller process pump is normally selected when the liquid contains fibrous solids, entrained gas or material that should not be cut by a conventional close-clearance impeller. Our independent replacement program covers complete pumps and selected components after reviewing the installed model, hydraulic size, duty point, metallurgy and seal arrangement.

When a Recessed Impeller Pump Is the Right Starting Point

In a recessed-impeller design, the impeller operates clear of the primary solids flow path. The casing creates a vortex-like flow pattern that can help pass bulky solids and fibrous material with lower direct impeller contact. This can be useful for paper stock, screenings, wastewater, food pulp, gas-entrained liquid and selected shear-sensitive process services.

That hydraulic approach is not automatically correct for every solids duty. Solids size, concentration, fibre length, viscosity, gas content and the required flow and head all affect the selection. Send those details with the existing model so we can review whether the proposed hydraulic configuration matches the application.

CV3196 and the 3196 Platform

The CV3196 is related to the wider 3196 horizontal process-pump platform, but a recessed-impeller hydraulic end should not be treated as a blanket substitute for every conventional 3196 configuration. Component compatibility depends on pump size, casing, impeller, frame, seal chamber and part number. We verify each quoted pump or part against the installed equipment rather than relying on family name alone.

Reference Operating Envelope

Reference item Installed-family reference
Flow Up to 2,700 GPM (610 m³/h)
Head Up to 440 ft (134 m)
Pressure Up to 285 PSIG (1,965 kPa)
Temperature Up to 500°F (260°C)

These figures describe reference information for the installed pump family. They are not a universal performance promise. Final flow, head, pressure, temperature, speed, impeller diameter and material must be confirmed by engineering for the selected construction.

Hydraulic, Seal and Service Considerations

  • Solids passage: review solids size, fibre length, concentration and whether the process can tolerate occasional oversized material.
  • Gas entrainment: provide the gas content and suction conditions, as gas can materially affect hydraulic performance.
  • Seal arrangement: identify the existing mechanical seal, stuffing box or dynamic-seal arrangement, flush plan and seal-face materials.
  • Maintenance access: confirm whether back pull-out maintenance and external impeller adjustment are required for the installation.
  • Wear and corrosion: specify the fluid chemistry, temperature and solids abrasion so wetted materials can be reviewed.

Materials and Replacement Parts

Material options may include WCB, CF8M/316SS, CD4M, CN7M/Alloy 20, Hastelloy, Titanium and Zirconium where the component and manufacturing route allow it. Final availability depends on pump size, part geometry and service requirements.

Typical replacement-parts inquiries include casing, recessed impeller, shaft, shaft sleeve, seal chamber, stuffing-box cover, frame adapter, bearing frame, bearings, isolators, gaskets, O-rings and dynamic-seal related parts. For a part-only quote, send the OEM part number, part name, material, quantity and any drawing or damaged-part photo.

Applications

  • Fibrous slurry, paper-mill liquid and stock-related process service
  • Gas-entrained or frothy liquid transfer
  • Wastewater, screenings and selected non-clog duties
  • Food pulp, grain mash and other shear-sensitive product service
  • Corrosive or abrasive process liquid where the metallurgy is verified

Send the Right Data for a Replacement Review

For a complete-pump quote, send the existing brand, model, size, flow, head, speed, fluid, specific gravity or viscosity, temperature, solids information, material, seal arrangement and quantity. Include a nameplate, curve, general-arrangement drawing, sectional drawing or installation photo whenever available. For parts, provide the model, OEM part number, material and quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a recessed impeller handle fibrous solids?

It is commonly considered for difficult fibrous and solids-containing duties. The final decision requires the actual solids and duty information.

Can you supply only a CV3196 impeller or casing?

Yes. We can review single components as well as complete pumps when the part number, dimensions, material and installed pump size are available.

Are CV3196 and 3196 components always interchangeable?

No. Compatibility must be confirmed by hydraulic size, frame, casing, seal arrangement and part number.

What materials can be quoted for corrosive duty?

We review the fluid chemistry, temperature and component requirement before proposing an appropriate alloy.

What Buyers Commonly Search For

Common purchase-led searches include Goulds CV3196 replacement pump, CV3196 parts, CV3196 impeller, CV3196 casing and recessed impeller process pump. If you are replacing a complete installed pump, send the nameplate and duty point. If you need a casing, impeller, shaft or seal-related component, send the part number, material and photo or drawing.
